184 JORALEMON STREET
Project Description
184 Joralemon Street, the former Brooklyn Law School residence in Brooklyn Heights, a 1901 Beaux Arts building was entered into Landmark Status in the fall of 2012. DiGuiseppe Architect converted this 12 story building into 23 two bedroom rental apartments and 1 unique ground floor studio, as well as provided all Landmarks filings and drawings. The front door was designed in the Beaux Arts genre, the facade was cleaned and repainted and a new canopy added. While the exterior was sensitively restored , DiGuiseppe designed the interior in a modern vernacular way, including the apartment interiors, lobby, corridors and elevators, while partially exposing and maintaining the original brick walls in the building. A blend of old and new architecture and homage to the architect Carlo Scarpa. |
