Principal architect and designer, Anthony J. DiGuiseppe AIA RIBA, founded the firm DiGuiseppe Architect in 1985 in New York City. DiGuiseppe’s unique and diverse background includes studies in Naval Architecture at the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, and degrees in Architectural Engineering from Pratt Institute and Architecture and Planning from City College, New York. Mr. DiGuiseppe is a long time member of the American Institute of Architects, a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and a Commissioner of Marbletowns’ Historic Preservation Commission.
The firms’ first clients included projects that ranged from preservation of historic row townhouses in Greenwich Village to the design of high fashion showrooms on Seventh Avenue such as Christie Brinkley Swimwear. The firms’ work presently is comprised of Hospitality and Residential projects, as well as residential developments in an historic context. The firm has had its design work published internationally in magazines such as Interior Design, Women’s Wear Daily, and Contract. DiGuiseppe has won numerous furniture design awards including - Visions 2000 and the Roscoe Awards; and has had his work exhibited in design competitions such as the redesign of the Piazzale Roma for the Venice Biennale.
DiGuiseppe has also collaborated with other design firms such as Emilio Ambasz, Perkins Eastman, The Spectorgroup, Edward Mills, The Eggers Group, Alan Lapidus, and Adache Associates on large-scale projects. In-depth understanding and a collaborative working partnership with clients has become one of the key elements to the success of the firm's tenure.
DiGuiseppe, as principal, spearheads the design aspects of all projects and strives to understand financial, artistic, and business needs of his clients. Since 1996, the firm has concentrated solely on the hospitality industry, and with that, developed a thorough understanding of the financial aspects of hotel and resort projects from the owner and developer standpoint. This understanding and knowledge of development costs, financing aspects, operational needs, and guest expectations, especially as it relates to the quality and value of the lodging experience, has resulted in a partnership that has produced quality environments and profitable ventures for the firm's clients.
DiGuiseppe Architect has designed and consulted on a variety of international hotel and resort properties ranging in scope and settings from the Catskill Mountains of New York, the pristine white sands of the Caribbean, the lush rain forests of Costa Rica, and the urban environment of New York City. The firm maintains studios in New York City, Boca Raton and historic Stone Ridge in upstate New York.
